Lydia Viscardi is a mixed media artist working in painting, drawing, collage, and assemblage sculpture. She is known for her layered mixed media work using printed matter, fabric, vintage textiles, and found objects in two and three dimensions. She explores the tensions between nature, human society particularly everyday life, and the human soul, imbuing contradictions with an enigmatic, playful sensibility.

Viscardi was the 2024 Artist-in-Residence at Lenox Hill Neighborhood House, NYC (a historic center for social services and cultural institution) which culminated in a solo show and a recipient of the 2023 Connecticut Office of the Arts Artist Fellowship.

Solo exhibitions include Pack Light, Rick Wester Fine Art, NY, NY; Then the Morning Comes, Real Art Ways, Hartford, CT; and Here and Hereafter, Five Points Gallery, Torrington, CT.

She has exhibited in group shows at Hampden Gallery of UMass; Clara M. Eagle Gallery at Murray State University, KY; Odetta Gallery, NYC, Rick Wester Fine Art, NYC; Hudson Valley Museum of Contemporary Art, NY; The Camp Gallery, Miami, FL; Berrie Center Galleries at Ramapo College of NJ; Eastern CT State University, AHA Fine Art, NYC; Ely Center of Contemporary Art, CT; Hecksher Museum of Art, NY and the Drawing Center, NYC.

Viscardi’s work is in the collections of the Housatonic Museum of Art in CT, Eastern CT State University, Lenox Hill Neighborhood House, NYC, The Copelouzos Art Museum, Athens, Greece, and many private collections in the US. She was born in Flushing, NY, holds a BFA from CW Post College of LI University, NY, and an MFA in Visual Art from William Paterson University of NJ. She maintains a studio in CT.
